Electronic Frontier Foundation
From the Internet to the iPod, technologies are transforming our society and empowering us as speakers, citizens, creators, and consumers. When our freedoms in the networked world come under attack, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is the first line of defense. EFF broke new ground when it was founded in 1990 — well before the Internet was on most people's radar — and continues to confront cutting-edge issues defending free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights today. From the beginning, EFF has championed the public interest in every critical battle affecting digital rights.

Camerapedia
he Camerapedia is a free-content encyclopedia of camera information. Its intention is to be a repository for information and links to information about all still camera brands and models. If you possess information about some camera equipment, please share that knowledge with everyone and contribute.
The textual content of Camerapedia is released under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2, please read the page about Copyrights for the full details.
Camerapedia is a Wiki website. This means that any user can add or edit content. If something is missing you can add it, and if you disagree with something you change it. A Wiki website makes content a two way street: you are no longer a passive reader and the more you participate the better the content gets.

ArtLimited
Art Limited is for artists, critics and models who propose creative, personal and original high quality work which is recognized and appreciated.
It was designed to bring a personal vision of Art presentation over the Internet media. The idea was to propose something well designed, really fast and simple to display, with a lot of features to help artists to promote their work and share their passion and knowledge to other members. New technologies and amazing effects are interesting for games and shows, but a web gallery should help a work of art to be exhibited in the best possible way, and seen by as many people as possible. Many wonderful communities exists over the Internet and each one has its specificity, its public and fans. No one can pretend to be the best as human tastes are - still - personal.
Our vision and concept is to bring a emotive dialog between creators and visitors, helping them within advanced features to meet each other.

How to find grants for photographers
how-to grants
Grants for the individual artist are different than grants for non-profit art organizations. It is important to read grant guidelines to make sure that the grantor/foundation is willing to award grants to individual artists. Once you’ve found a list of applicable grants, be sure to create yourself a grants calendar of the application deadlines. Also, it’s a good idea to print the applications or a summary of each grant to be kept in a file. Be sure to start organizing your grant at least one month before the due date. Also, always feel free to contact the funder with any questions. Communication with the funder can save you a lot of wasted time.

http://www.photo.net
Photo.net is an online community for photographers to connect and discuss photography, explore galleries, share photographs, and learn more about the art of photography. The site began in 1993 as Philip Greenspun's personal home page at MIT and has grown to become a community of more than 600,000 registered users working to help each other improve as photographers. Our editorial goal is to serve busy readers who want clear answers to questions. When we review photography equipment, we do it from the perspective of "In what kinds of photographic situations would this be the right choice?" In building community, we value members who provide constructive criticism and helpful assistance to other members. We strive to be the best peer-to-peer educational system for people who wish to become better photographers.

As such, we have volunteer Board members who are charged with carrying out the responsibilities of such an organization as required by California law. In addition, EP Board members discuss and vote on the direction and focus of the group, act as liaisons between the various trade organizations and working groups, often act as point people when issues critical to photographers arise, and serve as heads of committees charged with various organizational tasks such as education, membership, web content, and fundraising. Daily business is conducted in cyberspace and through periodic conference calls.....whew!

The Center for the Holographic Arts
http://www.holocenter.org/
The Center for the Holographic Arts was established under the directorship of Ana Nicholson and the late Dan Schweitzer, two well known holographic artists, to promote the development and dissemination of the art of Holography. To this end, the Center offers an Artist In Residence program, small exhibitions of interesting, current holographic work, traveling exhibitions, a series of talks, and will maintain a web page with news and developments.
The Artist In Residence Program is at the heart of the Center's activities. A number of artists each year will be selected by a jury of Art professionals based on submitted proposals. Holographic and non-holographic artists are invited to contact the Center for guidelines for proposal submissions.
The Center is equipped with a pulse laser camera, a c.w. table and Argon and Helium-Neon lasers. Under the guidance of the two directors, artists will be encouraged to explore the medium as part of their artistic vocabulary for a maximum of three weeks. In some cases a small stipend will be a part of the award.
It is hoped that through the strategic collaboration with other art establishments, the center will provide public exposure to the art of holography.
The Center, located at 45-10 Court Square, Long Island City, N.Y. 11101 is a not for profit organization funded in part by the Shearwater foundation.
